Originating from the sun-drenched sprawl of Meanjin/Brisbane and now firmly rooted in Naarm/Melbourne, The Halves have spent the last few years carving out a sound of emotionally charged guitar music that takes the ribs of post-punk and the skin of indie rock. Balancing abrasive guitars and explosive melodic release, the band’s music thrives in the tension between catharsis and collapse.

On their debut self-titled EP, The Halves explored the uncertainty of self and human connection through urgency and emotion. Now on their sophomore EP, the band re-introduce themselves by pushing their sound into a darker, heavier and more emotionally volatile territory, and become more confrontational than ever before.

Onstage, the band translates their tension-heavy songwriting into explosive, deeply physical performances that continue to resonate with audiences across the country. Building a reputation as one of Melbourne’s strongest emerging alternative acts, The Halves have supported artists including Swapmeet, Full Flower Moon Band and HEADSEND, while receiving praise from the likes of RAGE and Triple J. Performing to packed out rooms nationwide, the band continue carving out their place within Australia’s evolving post-punk revival.

Comprised of Tim Hardy, Chris White, Sam Sanders and Rory Watkins, 2026 sees The Halves expanding beyond Melbourne with a sophomore EP, national touring and an intensified live show.
